Welcome to our “mostly” West Virginia made aritsan gallery located in the heart of Durbin, WV.
Just look for the bubble machine!
The idea to open The Whistle Stop Gift Shop was the result of a group of crafts people who were members of the Pocahontas County Artisans Co-operative looking for another venue from which to sell their products. The building storefront was empty at that time and the location was very good so the group opened the shop in May 2008. The intent was to provide quality locally made products and promote “WV Made” and that’s exactly what we are all about.
We currently have 15 local crafts people/artisans working through our shop. Our “mostly” WV made inventory includes baked potato bags; beautiful cutting/serving boards; hand carved spirit doors; handmade soap; jewelry; pine needle and reed baskets; quilts; quilted table runners; quilted tote bags; quilted wall hangings; rolling pins, key rings; wine bottle corks; kitchen utensils; Christmas ornaments and fence rail vases made from turned wood; wooden wine racks; photography; pottery; stained glass sun catchers, maple syrup, maple sugar candies; watercolor prints; cards; magnets; moss gardens; and more. We strive to keep our quality high and our prices reasonable to make your shopping experience the best we can.
Other WV made products available include Appalachian glass friendship balls; Blenko glass water bottles; fine wooden kitchen utensils from Allegheny Treenware; Ed Jeff’s unique themed birdhouses; jams, jellies, salsa and sauces from Gourmet Central; and gourmet pretzels. We purchase these items to give more variety in the shop and still promote WV businesses.
We open for the summer season on May 26, 2017.
Through September: Thursday – Sunday 11:30am – 5:00pm
